The scale changes everything: coffee by grams, not scoops

Why grams win

Scoops compress (a "tablespoon" varies 20% by grind and humidity), cups vary, and memory is not a measuring instrument. Grams are exact, repeatable, and communicable — "23 g at 1:15" reproduces a good cup across machines, cities, and years. The scale is the cheapest consistency technology in coffee.

The workflow

Scale on, tare with the vessel, dose coffee, tare again, pour to target grams. Fifteen seconds of ceremony that replaces guesswork forever. The ritual-averse can pre-weigh doses into jars on Sunday — the math survives batch processing too.

What the scale unlocks

Reproducibility (the good cup repeats), diagnosis (the adjustment grammar needs a constant to adjust against), and progression (ratios, then grind, then temperature — each needs the previous measured to matter). Every coffee skill compounds on top of the scale; it is the first upgrade, always.
